About

Who we are.

Madeline Schmidt is the founding partner of Schmidt Law and an entertainment attorney building a practice around the creators, talent, and agencies redefining the industry.

Founding Partner — Madeline Schmidt, Esq.

Background

A practice built on purpose.

Madeline founded Schmidt Law to give creators the kind of proactive, high-level counsel usually reserved for traditional entertainment clients — focused on preventing costly contract mistakes, enforcing brand deal obligations, protecting intellectual property, and minimizing legal exposure as her clients scale. Her approach is consultative and strategic: early intervention, decisive negotiation, and outcomes built to protect long-term income and brand equity.

Before starting the firm, she was an associate in the music group of a major law firm, representing artists and producers from Grammy winners to up-and-coming talent. She spent three years advising a digital agency on corporate legal matters, which gave her a firsthand look at the business realities creators and talent teams face daily. Before law school, she built a career in media sales — the kind of practical, revenue-driven grounding that still shapes how she approaches dealmaking today.

Alongside her private practice, Madeline is a committed pro bono attorney with the Legal Aid Society, supporting organizations focused on victims’ rights, anti-domestic violence work, and anti-human trafficking efforts across the country.
